Personally I love texting. I think most people my age do too. I text a lot! I would say the only time I'm not texting is when I'm sleeping. There are many more other sources of communication other than texting. For example, email, phone calls, and other social sites on the internet. I prefer texting because its the fastest and easiest way to get a hold of somebody. It can be very brief and straight to a point and they will receive it right away. Technology has advanced tremendously throughout the years and it just has became easier and easier to contact people. Texting has became part of most peoples life's in our society. it does have its pros and cons. Like I mentioned before it is a great way of fast communication, but it can also b a distraction for many. I've seen my bill and how many times I text a month, most of those texts are one word long! sometimes its not even a word its just a simple happy face. Car accidents have increased since texting became such a big deal in our society. It has became a distracting, but it is also necessary to communicate. I do believe we abuse the method of texting, but what can I say I do love texting.

Reality TV
As a part time
student and having a full time job I have no time for television! If I ever
watch TV I must be really bored or just passing through my living room while
someone else is watching it. I cannot sit and watch TV unless I’m watching a
movie. Before when I had more time on my hands I use to watch a lot of reality TV.
To me they were very entertaining, but as they kept coming up with more and
more shows it just became annoying. One of the shows I use to watch a lot was the
Jersey Shore show. I would not miss any of their episodes, I remember staying
up all night every Thursday just to watch it. As that season ended they started
coming up with the second season and the third and the rest of them, it just
became very annoying. It was the same thing over and over again, just in a
different country. Another show I enjoyed watching was sixteen and pregnant. I
know a lot of girls relate to this show in this case I personally don’t, but it
was interesting to see their life’s and how much they struggled. There are so
many teen moms out there struggling and trying to do the best for their
children that may be this show makes them feel better and not alone. It makes
them feel some relieve and it gives them the knowledge to know they’re not the
only ones going through this. Keeping up with the Kardashians was another show
I never missed. At this point I don’t watch it at all; it’s just ridiculous to
me. They seem so money hungry and are not showing their viewers anything
productive. I feel like their teaching others to be materialistic and selfish. People are just so fake. I would say their
just selfish and want attention. Every time they come up with a new show somehow
sex and violence have to be involved all the time. I don’t think these shows
are helping our society one bit. I think their harming it in every way
possible. These shows just give people ideas and people just want to fit in. Since
they try to fit in they try to dress and act more like them. There is no
benefit on watching these shows other than being entertained for a couple of
hours. Our society gets worst by the minute with all the violence going around.
I think reality TV plays a big role on people’s actions and beliefs. Now that I’m
older I realize all these shows are no good for anybody. I try to avoid these
shows as much as possible and watch something else. Like I said before I enjoy
watching movies instead. At least by watching a movie you might learn something
or see things from other points of view. As you grow older you grow wiser and
you notice a lot of things you never noticed before.

My History With Fast Food
Fast food can be convenient and
affordable. It can also be a very unhealthy decision. We can’t control what is
put in the food unless we cook it. As a child fast food was a treat for my
little brother and me. I couldn't wait for it to be Sunday and get a happy
meal. I remember collecting all their toys and being disappointed when I got
the one I didn’t like. We went out to eat almost every Sunday and McDonalds was
one of our favorite places to go. Another place we also visited a lot was Home
Town Buffet, but that just was because either my brother or I would get student
of the month. Our certificate would come with a free pass to go in there for
free. In my childhood going to a fast food restaurant was a reward and
something my family would do together.
At this point in my life I try to
avoid fast food. I try eating at home as much as possible. When I cook at home
I know exactly what I’m putting in and what’s going into my body. In the other
had when I eat fast food I don’t know what I’m in taking. I do eat fast food
but I try making healthier choices. I work and go to school and sometimes fast
food is my only choice. It is convenient but not your best choice. Like I said
in my last blog I am trying to work on my self-appearance and my eating habits.
My eating habits are horrible, starting my day without breakfast not the best
choice, but it happens most of the time. Due to time sometimes I don’t eat the
whole day and once I do I’m so hungry I eat too much. As of right now I think McDonald
is one of the most disgusting places out there, when as a child i couldn't wait
to go back again. I can’t remember the last time I was there. Now if I eat fast
food I go to subway or panda express. I’m not really into eating meat so a
burger doesn't cut it. I've noticed improvement in some fast food restaurants
that I never saw as a child. Some restaurants now use labels to show how many
calories, trans fat, etc. each food product has. Others have it up their wall
or on the menu. I do believe fast food restaurants have somewhat of healthy
food out there, but at the same time once your there and you see a picture of a
salad and a burger it won’t take you that long to change your mind and get that
burger. My fast food habits are not that bad as you can see I can live without
it. I don’t eat it occasionally, but when I do it just had to do with time. I
usually eat out when I don’t have time to make myself something to eat and I’m
running late.

Past, Present, and Future
Hi everyone, my name is Yesenia. Most people misspell it or
once they try pronouncing it, it sounds more like “lasagna”. With that being
said, most people call me Yesi. I am nineteen years old soon to be twenty. I as
was born in Jerez, Zacatecas and raised in Oxnard. Life to me is made up of
memories that you make every day which will lead you to your future and make
you remember your past.
I live my life day by day,
but I also keep in mind that tomorrow is never promised. I’ve lived a rough
life, but nothing I wasn’t able to overcome. My past is full of memories some
are bad, some are good and they all seem to have marked my life. I came to the
U.S when I was six years old unable to speak English. My language, lifestyle, and whole life changed.
Those changes just made me a better person which lead me to where I’m at right
now. I graduated from Oxnard high and ROP as a dental assistant in 2011. I am Radiation
Licensed and I am currently a dental assistant.
I love my job, meeting new people and getting thanked with a smile every time they walk out the door makes my day. I work full time and also manage to go to school. I try my best to keep myself busy and active. I am working on myself appearance in hope of reaching my goals and being healthy. I live with my parents, brother, and little sister. They make my life complete, and for them is why I try to always accomplish everything I start.

I can’t tell the future, but whatever is in
store for me ill make the best of it. I would love to pursue my dental career
as a Dental Hygienist, but also study cosmetology. Those are two way different
careers, but they’re not impossible. I want
to try my best in supporting my family and helping them pursue their dreams just
how their doing it for me.
